Image
As we end this adventure and wonderful mission We all want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your monetary contributions and prayers without all of you and God none of this could have be possible!!  With that said I’m NOT going to tell you all about our experiences on the island rather I will let your family & friends here share those with you in person very soon.  Let’s just say much fun, sun and relaxation accrued . Friendships were built, talents were shared and new families were made …..( Lance/Shawn and his adopted son Jayden ) Lol  See you all soon  Love and God Bless you Mission Belize 24 team ❤️

Day 6….Build Pray Love

Our final day of building was a wonderful success! Not only did we get the windows and door in but we also built some great bunk beds . The blue house is almost ready to move in ( we just need a bathroom & electrical )  At the yellow home we thankfully were able to get all 4 walls up with the windows and door cut out . We already have plans to get it finished with the help of our friend Lorenzo so Aspinal can move in soon !  After lunch we were so blessed to have Father David come out and bless both sites with a beautiful ceremony and sprinkling of holy water.  By 3:00 we were packed up and on the ferry boat to Caye Caulker ( the island) . The hour long ride had us windblown but cooled off , it was great ! Our buddy Jayden joined us also for his first ferry ride and a well deserved treat .  Later we all went different directions to explore the shops & stands, some of us joined up for dinner and/or drinks . While others relaxed in hammocks at the motel ....

Day 5… In the home stretch

Another wonderful day of hard work at both sites. We had a few extra hands ( the kids who live next door) using the drills and getting tips from Jim . They were all smiles and felt great that they could help .  We were able to get most of the walls done , railings and finish the roof along with some never ending painting is seems. We are all in such high spirits about finishing the project that no one minds “One More Thing “.  Back at the yellow house the second wall went up with the third well on its way for tomorrow. We plan on getting it closed up tomorrow. Unfortunately we will not get a ramp or windows in at this time . The spirt is strong the the body is weak ( we are all spent in this heat ) .  Carol was able to give some fun items to the neighbor kids with money sent with us from some very generous grandchildren ( mark & cheryl )  You can see their smiles in the pics .  Our afternoon was spent on a well deserved side trip to Altun Ha t emples ...

Day 4 ….. measure twice cut once

Another humid productive day was had by all !  Our blue house teams were hard at work putting up a tin roof and siding . It takes a lot of cutting and measuring to get just the right fit but it sure looked great by the end of the day .  Our yellow house team started out in the morning putting the floor boards into place while the afternoon was busy with building two of the four walls and attaching siding .  With the heat of the day upon them the only place to find shade was “under” the floor .  One group went to visit the children at the Mother of Mercy Montessori school . They brought art supplies, toys toothbrushes & bubbles!! Everyone had a great time .  Back at the blue house site ( which is near a park and soccer field cleats , shoes and soccer balls were passed out to excited kids who couldn’t wait to go play !  This evening we were honored with a tamale dinner put on by the parish council at Divine Mercy . We had a fun time introducing ours...

Day 3 …Up she goes !

Our day started early with a beautiful Mass @ 6:00am After a quick breakfast the plan was set on who would work at which spot .  One crew went to the home by “the swamp or the red house “ where we leveled the ground with ALOT of fill dirt to stop the sinking and make it ready for the platform/ floor that went up later in the day . It was hot , heavy & heartfelt work to get a home built for a great young man named Epsinon who is wheelchair bound but had the biggest smile when we passed out shoes & clothes for him and his family members .  He was also excited about the color of his new home , Sunny yellow .  Our second crew was busy at the home near the church where walls and roof beams were put into place . The siding that our ladies crew painted will be ready to put on those walls tomorrow! Caribbean blue for one and Sunny yellow for the other.  Our last crew was in charge of building 2 closet/ sacristy at the church we built last year . The walls went ...
